Value Landscapes

Assignment # 1:
Watch the video about Space to the right. Answer the questions in the google doc assignment on google classroom.
Landscapes
A landscape is a drawing, painting or photograph of the world around us. Most landscapes have FOREGROUND, MIDDLE GROUND, AND BACKGROUND. They have a light source (the sun or the moon) and have a sense of SPACE and DEPTH. This is achieved through SCALE and VALUE.

As objects recede into space in an image they appear smaller. Objects closest to us appear larger. As those objects recede they get lighter in color and value and up close they are darker in color and value.

A focal point is the place in an artwork that the viewer looks at first. This give the artwork a sense of order. A focal point can be achieved with color, value, lighting or scale.

Firewatch- Released February 2016

Firewatch is a first person adventure mystery game where the player plays as a Wyoming park ranger named Henry who is assigned to a watchtower in the wilderness. Throughout the course of the game, Henry discovers clues about mysterious occurrences happening in his patrol area.

Firewatch won the award for Best 3D Visual Experience at the Unity Awards 2016, Best Indie Game at the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards and Best Narrative at the 2017 Game Developers Choice Awards. By the end of 2016, the game had sold over a million copies. A film based on the game is being developed by Campo Santo and Good Universe.
