For this assignment you are to create your own original vector image of a cityscape. You have a great deal of flexibility with this assignment. Your city can be modeled after a real city (Paris, New York) or it can be completely original. It can be set in any time period (victorian era, modern city with skyscrapers, or even futuristic!) You can imagine that its for a travel advertisement or a setting for a fictional story! I will be looking for your own artistic voice and creativity.

My example created in pixlr! Don't be afraid to use images and lower the opacities and adjust the hue and saturation on things. I used a star sky and the street texture as images. I also created one bush using the brush tool and then duplicated the layer many times. Use all your photoshop/pixlr skills!

My Approach

The FIRST thing you need to do is do some research! For my cityscape I decided I wanted a Japanese/Chinese influence and folklore feeling. So I looked up numerous images of Chinese and Japanese Architecture and used them as reference while I was doing my pencil sketch. I also used these reference photo for my color scheme.
