What is Low Poly Art?
Low Poly Artwork
This style of artwork is characterized by simple geometric shapes placed right next to each other to create angular and minimalist compositions. The “poly” from low poly comes from the word “polygon,” which is a 2-dimensional shape made of straight lines and angles.
It originates in the birth of 3D animation and game design where environments and characters were rendered in this way to cut down on lag and load times while playing. It is used to develop TEXTURE and DEPTH in a minimal way. (Think N64 or PS1, Final Fantasy, Zelda etc)
The low poly "look" has become trendy in recent years and still used in game design today.
