Final Project Option: Underwater Scene

Project Option #2
You are to complete a full underwater scene complete with sea life, coral and water. . It must have the following:
  1. At least 3 coral and 5 creatures.
  2. It can be done either in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop or both! (Like our junk food project, koi fish project or like our digital painting projects)
  3. It must have a full composition. Think about it like a window into a fish tank. It must have a sense of space and depth. (Things in the front, middle and background)
  4. A sense of balance and unity (It must look like it all goes together, ex: no fresh water fish with salt water fish etc)
  5. A sense of good work ethic and EFFORT.
Ways to Approach this Assignment
  • Start out by creating a collage in adobe photoshop of your underwater scene. THIS IS FOR ALL STYLES/ WAYS TO DO THIS PROJECT
  • Apply the posterize filter to the collage when done (or cut out)
  • Then bring it into Illustrator and start tracing with the pen tool and filling with color.
  • OR! Make the collage, bring it into Adobe Illustrator, trace it with the pencil tool, then bring it back to Adobe Photoshop for color. (like our Character Selfie or koi fish projects)
  • OR! Create a collage of your scene in Photoshop and digitally paint it.
  • DON'T FORGET ABOUT AN OVERLAY! It can be really helpful to tie the scene together at the end.

Below: This a screen shot of doing this this digital painting way. I recommend that you paint each part of your painting on a separate layer since this is a complex project. The background is separate from each element in the painting.

Reflection Questions:

When you are done with your final project, and it is in your google portfolio for grading, answer the following questions in the comment section underneath your slide:

  1. What do you think you did well in this project?
  2. Why did you choose the project option that you did?
  3. What do you think you could improve on in this project?
  4. What did you learn how to do, or get better at doing in this project?
  5. Why did you choose the creatures and coral that you did and arrange them where you did?
