Galaxy Painting

Assignment # 1:
  1. What is the visible spectrum?
  2. What are the 3 primary colors of LIGHT?
  3. What is the guiding principle of coloring black and white images?
  4. Why do space images taken by the Hubble telescope start out black and white?
  5. What computer program do scientists use to add color to these photos?
  6. What does broadband filtering do? 
  7. What is narrowband filtering actually taking a photo of?
  8. Are these colors real? The video says why the answer can be both yes and no. Explain.

Assignment # 2

You are to digitally paint your own outer space scene. It must include the following:
  1. A space sky. It must have colors commonly seen in the universe based on reference images. It should have a wide range of values (areas of lights and darks) and should have a feeling of movement (swirling space clouds etc)
  2. At least 5 objects in the sky. They can be planets, moons, etc
  3. Evidence of filters on each planet as well as the burn and dodge tool used on some of the planets. 
  4. There should be a sense of space and depth. Planets closest to use would be larger, far away they would be small and lighter in value etc. 
  5. Evidence of good worth ethic and EFFORT
